Is Ghost Hunters/The Atlantic Paranormal Society (TAPS) real or fake?

The Atlantic Paranormal Society was a real ghost hunter prior to their television debut with the Science Fiction Channel. During this time, they collected real evidence (least as real as they could discover with their poor methodologies). Since then, their focus changed. They are no longer a not-for profit group aimed at discovery, but an entertainment industry focused group. This of course will greatly alter the type of "evidence" collected by them. For example, they are no longer unbiased. Their paycheck is dependant on the number of eposides they create which is based on viewer interest. Viewers demand bigger "wow" factors which means bigger reveals. This means they are under increasingly greater pressure to show something. At this point, they are no longer an unbiased group and have something to gain by doctored evidence collection. In addition, when they were brought into the media by the Science Fiction Channel, they were told that they had to show 50% of their cases debunked. This again sets a limit on discovery and creates a biased situation.
I think the bigger question really is, why would anything be considered real when produced on the Science FICTION Channel?
